It's officially winter in Miami now. The temperature is hovering around 75 degrees, and all of these people who have never actually experienced cold weather are out in their long sleeve shirts, jackets, and long pants.

Just busy. I need to go out and take more photos, but it's been hard to find time recently. How are the fall colors coming along in your neck of the woods?

I'm amazed at the number of people acting like they are ready to jump on the MkIV bandwagon less than 24 hours after the announcement.

Personally I think it's another example of how Canon's marketing department drives the development of their cameras. The last thing I need in a camera is a 100,000 ISO and video. I rarely use the 3200 my 40D is capable of and if I wanted to shoot video, I'd go buy a video camera.

Absolutely. While initially I was in the camp that "If you don't like the video don't shoot it but don't bash Canon for including it", I've found that the ergonomics and features of the the 5D2 suck as a video camera because it was never designed as one (and that's not necessarily its fault since it was designed as a wonderful full frame still camera).

So I will take my own advice "if you don't like it don't shoot it". I don't begrudge it for being there though, and I'm sure those who have the luxury of time to set up and shoot will enjoy it. Plus I know where to find a DOF adapter or UWA video if I ever need one :D

It's nice to have choices. I still support having 1080 HD video on my 5D2.

Both L, I sold off the 85 /1.8 along with the Sigma 105 macro to partly fund the 35L.

Just in the getting to know you stage with the 35L. Liking it so far.

Nice!

I could never justify the 85L, given how little I use a 85.

I'm afraid we are not going to have much color this year. In many areas, the leaves just turned gray and fell off the trees....gray seems a bit abnormal.

Nice shots....cool mini-train.

I just wasted an hour of my life reading the gnashing and grinding in the 1D4 threads...good grief....not one of those idjits has even seen one yet....and already they are proclaiming the 7D is superior....what a tribe of posers.

Nice!

I could never justify the 85L, given how little I use a 85.

I love and use the 85L heaps. I had it with me on Sunday along with the 35L. It was a conscious effort not to use the 85L. That said, I shot far more with the 70-200 2.8 IS as it let get a little further from the cricket action. Not normally a sport you'd shoot with this lens but for a fun match between friends it was perfect as I could go anywhere.

None of my gear really is justifiable from a monetary Return on Investment point of view. :o But then I use it and love the results I get so that makes me happy.

All that matters. As long as it isn't keeping your family from eating, wearing clothes and having a roof over their heads...and as long as the Mrs. hasn't told you to go sleep in the garage...I would say you are all set. ;)

Yup....that's the nice thing about being a hobbyist. We already have jobs to pay the bills. And they're jobs because they feel like work.

What do the cricket shooters normally use? 180 macro? :p

I hereby proclaim the 7D is superior.

Because it's lighter, cheaper, and easier on the budget, has a cool airplane-like gauge that the 1D4 doesn't have, and it actually comes without the hated battery grip.

:p

Now the 5D2, that is definitely superior.
