I ordered a demo lens on the Adorama web site. All was fine but I like to deal with a "live" body just 'cause I'm insecure. My problem is if you e-mail the "service" dept. you'll more than likely get a pre-programed automated response e-mail something like, "we got your inquiry and a rep will e-mail you within 48hrs. " or something like that. I remembered Helen Oster had chimed in on price increases and customer service a while back so I took a chance,e-mailed her and just stated that I'd like confirmation on my order from a "real" person,if it was possible.
I got a response from Helen in minutes and was told that someone in the used sales dept. would get back to me very shortly. That all happened, and the communication was terrific.
I received the lens today(2 days early) and it is in brand new shape and works wonderfully. Thanks to the Adorama gang, and Helen for helping me out. It's always nice when it all goes right.

No offense Steve, but living in the city, why don't you just swing by the store. Adorama is on 19th off of Broadway I think. Great little store. Good sales people, knowledgeable and friendly. Not quite B&H, but a great place to shop for gear nontheless.

And no offense taken, Alan.. What goes on in my life on a daily basis and my own personal attitude about when I'll get off my duff for one thing or another , is my business. I do live "in the City", but in Queens and having driven limos for twenty five years in "The City" I can very well find my way to Adorama, if I wanted to or if I had the opportunity to do so. I was pointing out a little tiny story about how folks responded positively to a simple request, in a time when so many "service" companies simply sluff you off or give you a run around. I think I also mentioned that all who contacted me did a fine job, which was the basis for my post in the fist place. Enjoy the weekend. Steve B.

I've had nothing but awesome experiences with Adorama taking care of me. My only qualm is that I always seem to get rushed off the phone...but I always get my stuff super fast and without fuss.

Thanks for the feedback which is very much appreciated. I do understand your comment about feeling rushed off the 'phone. They tell me that it's a "New York thing". Well, as a country girl originally from South-West England, that doesn't go down too well with me, either.......

A tip: if you need a sales rep who will really take his time with you, try connecting with Fred (redw@adorama.com (external link)) ext 2259.

The incredibly fast shipping from Adorama is down to Adam in the warehouse, who has introduced a whole new way of getting orders out faster than ever before. I've passed on your message - I know he'll be delighted with the feedback, thank you.

Sincerely

Fred is definitely a great guy to work with! I always make it a point to ask for him when I order by phone. He has went out of his way on previous orders to make sure everything went smoothly.

Thank you; I've passed your comments on to Fred Wasser's manager. (BTW, I agree with you; if I have a problem or a query I find Fred is amazingingly helpful, too...)

Sincerely

OK,I started this thread a while back and now it's a love in!;)Ironically, I ordered a Kenko 1.4 teleconverter a few days ago and Ta DA! it arrived this am. Well packed.and in perfect shape, and this was with free shipping!.I'm sure that some of us have had problems of one sort or the other with a retailer,it wouldn't be natural not to. But I must say if attitude means anything, then Adorama is on the right track. Steve B.

I too have had several good experiences with Adorama. They tend to ship for free on some of the larger ticket items and I like that.
