I've seen this fella hanging around the feeder lately. There were reports of a melanistic chickadee in my area last year but I'm not sure if this is the same bird.

I believe the darkness in his feathers is due to molt at this time of the year, but I always preface, "I could be wrong"... cute little guy. 7d, 50D, 400mm f/5.6, 300mm f/4, 70-200mm f/4 IS, 50mm f/1.8

Thanks, I wasn't sure about that. I did see him earlier in the spring and he had the same darkness on the underside. He does look kind of "unkempt" though consistent with molting. Michele
