Jul 03, 2009 13:04 | #4 Thanks for this valuable bit of info. That changes everything. ChasP505 wrote in post #8218390 ...I wouldn't buy CS2 for the sole reason that you're using a 40D... a camera not supported by ACR 3.7. CS3 does support the 40D with ACR 4.6. If you're using DPP as your raw converter, this is a moot issue. If you can't qualify for an academic or student purchase, I think $100 USD is the maximum price to pay for a legit, sealed, unregistered, full version of CS2. I have a part-time photography and design business but I was involved in graphics arts long before I got immersed in photography.

But then again, I wouldn't buy Photoshop on eBay... period! Chas P

CS3 does support the 40D with ACR 4.6. True, but you can convert to DNG, then it'll work fine. ACR 5 is way better then ACR 3.7 however. If you plan on using ACR as a raw converter, plan on upgrading PS. I'd like to upgrade, but I'm not a student and it seems to me damned expensive. 5D & 7D (both gripped), 24-105L, 100-400L, 15-85, 50 f1.8, Tamron 28-75, Sigma 12-24, G10, EX-Z55 & U/W housing, A1+10 lenses, tripods, lighting gear, etc. etc.
