I just purchased a Sigma 70-300 Macro lens and decided to test it with this shot.
Please let me have your critique so I can improve my subsequent shots.

Then I studied it further and found that the black stick thing going across the scale bothers me, I can't tell what it is or if it is supposed to be there. The area above the scale does not contribute anything to the image but I get the impression that there is some interesting bits in the centre of the scale, so maybe a tilt downwards on the camera would have given me more to look at. As an excersise in texture it needs much more oblique lighting.

Jul 06, 2009 12:47 | #6 I was using a tripod. Since I was testing the Macro feature at 300mm my best bet was to use a tripod and I think considering, it did the job.
