Nursing was not an option with Evan due to tummy troubles. We even had to give him soy milk instead of whole milk after we stopped with the canned powder stuff that smelled like dog food...

Clothing we will for sure get...if the wife doesn't get in her shopping mode. But our friends and family have long since sold off or donated their baby stuff  like crib or stroller. The stuff we had for Evan, we gave to the family of the housekeeper we used to have who died in a car accident. We keep in contact with her sisters and they uses the stuff till it breaks passing it among the sisters there. Of course at that time when I point out to wife that we should be keeping the items for out next baby, she boldly states that we are going to buy new. I made her eat her words when we saw the prices of some of the stuff we had.

That is wild Bobert, I've never heard of an infant not being able to nurse and needing formula instead.

We do a LOT of passing clothing, toys and furniture amongst my sisters in law as well as friends. Now that the kids are older and have some taste in what they want we do less, but Tommy still wears all of Eli's old stuff, half of which was Joe's to begin with! Eli's toddler bed is now being used by my friends 18 month old, hos stroller and car seat were given to the guy who painted my sister in law's house.

Bobert, its a shame we're not closer, because I've got a whollllllllllllle bunch of that sort of thing that I'm hoping to unload here shortly. Changing table, jogging stroller (that will stick around for a bit yet), regular stroller....all kinds of stuff. :( You can have it if you come for it!

Hi Terri, how are you liking CT so far?

What I have seen so far, I am liking. It is interesting that it feels familiar and yet new at the same time.

And uh...Evan is 6 years old. ;). Cloth diapers is one thing I will not do....I can't imagine changing the loads or washin' em out. Changing a kiddo and tossin the diaper is what I am gonna do  We are more concerend with big ticket items like a crib, stroller and car seat though only a one time expense....then the food is the other expense which is frequent. We spent lots on Evan since he had a sensitive stomach and had to get those $25 cans of powdered milk which lasted us like 3 days at the most each can. Oi!

Wife and I had the cloth diapers discussion. We both quickly vetoed it. Just don't get one of those cribs that will be recalled when yet another dropside mechanism fails. If I had it to do all over again, I'd eschew the whole drop-side business, we never used it much. When he was an infant, the mattress was high enough to put him in w/o having to drop the side, and now, he stands when he wants out, and it's relatively easy to put him in w/o lowering the side.

Some of those I'd try....but man, the arteries are hardening just reading about it.

me, too ... country fried bacon sounds like a heart attack waiting to happen.

Cool! I wanna see computer pron :D What tower did you get? Liquid cooled?

Air cooled....

This case (external link) Room for 8 120MM fans (Well, 7 if you want any sort of internal optical drive ....), it does have ports in the back for an external watercooler, if I should ever decide to do that. There are reports that with a little creativity, a radiator can be installed in the top.

I'm installing an extra intake fan in the front (with a second drive cage) and two more exhaust fans, so it should keep the case nice and cool.

Go where Crissa went the other week - Lake George. A beautiful area in the Adirondacks.

I'll have to make another trip down to CT whilst you're over on this side of the land!

Yeah, we were surprised too. I think it was a number of things though. Evan had jaundice (we got a billiruben light), then for awhile he wouldn't take at feeding time and one day he became ill with RSV and doc lady said to give him the stuff for sensitive stomachs. Finished that time on the powder like doc said and when trying to go back to nursing, Evan would never take. Wife pumped though and bottle fed the milk when she could, but even at that Evan would push the nipple of the bottle out of his mouth with his tongue after the first swig..but put the powder stuff in the bottle and he'd gobble it up...it was truely funny to watch him be picky...with a milk diet.

One item I'd be careful with getting from friends or family is the car seat. They have an expiration date on them and (at least here on the news) it is said to toss them if the car seat was in the vehicle during a car accident (being used at the time or not). Even if they don't look damaged, they could fail in any car accident afterwards.

Another night of insomnia, Jim?

Nope, had a great sleep last night. :D

On a side note, isn't it funny though how the first born child in a family usually gets almost all new and exciting baby stuff, all the photos and videos.....then the second, third and so on child...they get the handme downs that are beat up and there are usually only a handful of baby photos and videos of them. I noticed that with my family.

Not here. I was the oldest of 3 boys, but I still had lots of cousins older that I got the handmedowns from. Can't say I really noticed or cared much, at least until I got to school age.
