 I'm embarrassed to say I have no idea. Whenever I use live view I always manually focus. I know that camera is capable of AF in LV but I've never tried it.

I found it. You hold the * button, it will focus, when it achieves focus lock the white box in the viewfinder turns green and the camera beeps. Works slick.

John, cute bug. :D

Harm, be cautious if you are to meet with those two women. Their charm is really powerful. ;)

I am sure I could out do their charm with ye olde British accent...just have to make it polished and posh for the time ;)

It does work quite good, but for macro I still find using manual focus works better for me.

I edited my siggy, so your tip stands alone. ;)

Kindred spirit!!

If I can ever think of a use for it, I might try it (I don't shoot macro).

Well, you surely must have one!!

Really? Though I have to say that the live view on the 40D is somewhat to be desired. Everything looks too soft on it. So I don't like to use it too much, but when using a tripod, it does come in handy...

For video it is required.

To turn it on it must be set as a custom function, then just press the live view button when you want it.

I almost never use it for still shots other then macro myself.
