Hello everyone!

I have read the entire manual to my recently obtained 30D and have browsed the web in search of what is a simple question. I am used to having the screen display all of the info ie shutter speed, iso, metering, apt, etc... being that I am used to my old 400D and my 50D. Is this 30D capable of this or do I just have to get used to using the small top screen?

Thanks in advance,
Nick

I just did that on my 30D. Doesn't work unless you have already taken the picture.

OP, I have a terrible time seeing the settings through the lens. I use the display on top. If someone comes up with another answer, I would like to know also.

I think it works this way on all the models.
How do you see what settings you use, until you use them?
When you look at anything on the view screen, it turns off when you activate the photo taking mode.

Look at the display at the top of the camera. Of course I generally use Av so I already know the f stop.

Not sure I'm understanding your question completely but 30D doesn't have the Live view feature. In otherwords you can't compose by using the LCD on the back of the camera. You can only view the shots you've taken on the LCD. Pressing the Info button will change the info you see on the LCD for shots taken.

I think you are confused...

The display on the top of the 30D has the same function as what you meant with "I am used to having the screen display all of the info ie shutter speed, iso, metering, apt, etc.."

On the 40D pressing info gives you a screen similiar to the rebel series.

Ok, to clear it up I am talking about the screen when the cam is idle:

50D:

IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: NOT FOUND | MIME changed to 'image/png'

400D:
IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: NOT FOUND | MIME changed to 'image/png'

I'm guessing the 30D just doesn't do this.

ummm....have you looked in the viewfinder?

Before taking a shot; you can see some of the camera settings on the top LCD panel.
If you half-press the shutter there's a wealth of information in the viewfinder.

After the shot, if you press the INFO button you will see a summary of the camera settings.

Yes, I do know that. I was speaking specifically about the previous screens posted.

NO it DOES NOT have this feature, you have to look on the top LCD. You get used to it.

The 30D has no such screen; its an older model camera than the 400D or obviously the 50D.

I guess I thought the OP was talking about the view screen on the rear, not the lcd display on the top.
