Hey all I have a XTI body now with a 70 300 f4 lens and a 17-85.

Looking to get a new body have about 1000. Should I get the 50d or step up to FF and get a 5d?

was thinking get a 50d than in a few years get a 5dmII. Since that is a really good camera.
Thanks all jay

Happy 4th all

The question you need to ask yourself is what is lacking in your XTi and what do you need in a new body.

You will probably be better off spending the money on lenses.

is the 17-85 and the 70-300 the only glass you have?

Albeit the 70-300 IS is good, I would replace the 17-85 first. Maybe with a Tamron 17-50 or a 28-75?

+1 adding not EF-S lenses which don't work on 5D

suggestion: try a prime lens; the improvement in IQ is significant!

Yeah was looking at the tamron 17 50. that was going to be the next one to get.. I also have the 50 1.8 . The 17-85 i bought I thought it was the 17-50. I just saw the 17 than after I pay i noticed what it was. Well the thing I do't like about the XTI it just feels cheap in my hand. Played with the 50 and felt nice. Maybe go with the 40d and get a better lens
