epatt250 has some good points. In the original there's not much hot spots and not only is the skin super smooth on everyone, but their hair, clothes, everything has almost a digital painting feel to it. Also I'm pretty sure they did it on purpose all the characters are super pale except the human girl, she still has a tint of pink in her flesh.

But yeah like most people said, try overlapping the pictures and it might add to it a bit. Also maybe bring the couple up a little larger than the rest of the people. It looks like you did that already, but maybe just a bit more so they're the main focus and the rest are just supporting cast. If it was a movie poster you would think the couple is obviously the most important just because they're the only couple and they're in the center, but you would also assume the movie would have a lot of screen-time for the other 3.

Another thing I just noticed, have no idea if this was intentional or just happened. On the official Twilight poster, all three characters on the left of the poster are looking off to the right side. While all three characters on the right of the poster are looking into the camera or at least towards the camera. Kind of interesting, don't think it has any real effect on the poster but never know.

Hmm, I'm no pro at this, but in looking at the images I can see some things you could do to make it look more like the image that twofruitz posted.

1) Makeup and PP skin retouching. Look at the main character's face in the Twilight image, he has no stubble whatsoever, his skin is smooth as a baby's bottom from the chin all the way up the jawline to his sideburns. So, shaving right beforehand is probably important to get that super clean look on the face, along with some makeup and PP.

2) As epatt250 said, the shadows are important. In the Twilight image everybody's face is pretty much half lit and half in shadow. In yours they are mostly lit.

3) Ditch the side/hair/rim lighting. Whatever you care to call it, the Twilight image shows little evidence of it. In fact I would say that none was used except on the main character. I can't see any highlights in the hair of the people on the sides of the image. E.g. the girl on the left side, her red hair is spread out like the wind is blowing it or something, but there's no highlights or halos there.

4) Positioning. More overlap, more torso/face, less legs. In the Twilight image the front characters are much "closer" to the camera than the others, they are waist-up shots and their faces are at least twice as big as the faces of the other characters. None of the characters have legs visible below the knee.

I did a bit of editing just to get the positioning more in line with the Twilight image.... obviously I did not take much time to get the selections perfect (accidentally took a big chunk out of the main guy's chin and the left girl's thigh) but I think it adds some drama just having the proportions there. Also I burned in some places (esp. the girls' jeans, and some parts of faces, and the left girl's hair) just to try to get things a bit darker. Looks like crap, I know, but that's what you get when you're blowing up somebody else's image.

Very nice phamster!

I appreciate the behind-the-scene shots too! Now when there's talk about the AlienBee, beauty dish and sock setup, I won't be too lost.

Well I tried, but yeah hard for me to work off an already edited pic heh. I think badger got the proportions better than I did too. But hey, definitely not an easy style to duplicate.
