Was there, or is there a replacement for the Red Wing Kwik-Stand?

I've been looking for a light stand that is compact and lightweight to use for shooting events where can pick it up and have the tripod legs collapse and then when the stand is placed on the ground the legs open to support it. This type of design allows for one-handed pickup and setup so yo can work quickly and move from place to place easily without having to put your camera down or have an assistant helping.

Anyone know if there is such a stand in production or something similar that does not require two hands to setup or to fold the legs for repositioning, moving through doorways, etc. ?

Just giving this a bump in the hopes that someone (perhaps Dave F.) might know something about the Kwik Stand or a replacement that utilizes the same or similar design.

I have seen a message about the Kwik-stand replacement somewhere either on dpreview.com or fredmiranda some times ago, I thought I saved the link but I have been searching for it since I saw your message with no luck yet..
If I find it I will surely let you know..

Isn't this similar too?

How the devil did you manage to find that Jerry? Everyone thought the Redwing Quickstand and follow-on Kwik-Stand were dead and buried. I'm *very* impressed!

I, too, was very impressed. I've looked and looked for that stand and can't even find them used. I don't understand how there could be literally hundreds of stands of all shapes and designs and not one manufacturer has stepped up to the plate to recreate the Kwik-Stand.

I'll have my Cheetah stand within the week. :D

I research a lot of unique products...
I believe this company just launched these. I can't vouch for the quality, hoping it's good and meet Robert's expectations.

Impressive find Kacey!

Robert let us now how it works!, Problem i see with the Kwik stand is that its loud, running around with it during a ceremony would not work. Now that could easiy be fixed by DIY padding on the legs, or even better if the new maker have thought of that incorporated that into the design.

Regards
Paul L.

I've seen Scott Kelby's video before and I also saw the stand being used by Bruce Dorn. I fell in love with it the first time I saw it.

Hi Paul,

I don't see the metal sounds as being a problem. I'm not anticipating using it during a ceremony or in a quiet church. I'll be using it at events and during wedding receptions, etc. where the people will be making far more noise than the stand might make.
