Does anyone know what the largest CF card that a Canon G3 can use?
Intended use, to capture video for online posting.
Thanks.

I've been using a 2g card, get 519 shots in P and 974 in Auto...and 999 shows up in the window for video...putting a 4g card in gives me 714 or so in P, 999 in Auto and again 999 in video mode...so I'd guess that 2g is the max the cam recognizes correctly.
Of course, it may be that the counter only goes to 999...though that wouldn't explain why you'd get only appx 50% more shots in P mode.

I had a 4 gig in my G2 and it worked fine, so the G3 will do the same.

The 999 thing holds true as well, it is just the limit of the counter.

G3 may "work" with larger cards, but I believe it may be old enough to be limited to a FAT16 file system, in which case regardless of the card size installed, it can only use 2GB of it...

Easy way to check, is to put one of the cards in your PC card reader and check to see what partition table it is using.
