Is it just me or does anyone else want to take their camera EVERYWHERE you go? Grocery store? Home Depot? Convenience store? Gas station?...............Just in case. I am making myself crazy! Should I take a wide lens? A Zoom? A prime? So now I need to carry my backpack, but I don't want to leave it in the car. So I am lugging around 30 lbs of gear in the grocery store, for what?.............You never know! Is anyone else crazy like me? Let me hear your story.

P.S. I don't want a P&S!

Sounds like you need therapy, maybe an SSRI - time to get some help.

I too carry around my camera almost everywhere I go but its my 5D and 50L so it fits in a really small man purse. Try just carrying your 50D and 17-40 for a while, that should cover whatever you want to shoot for the most part. John

Sounds like you just took up photography recently. It will pass after a year or three. :)

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

I'm too self-conscious to take photos in the grocery store. Do I need to get over that?

Don't bother getting over it, it's normally illegal anyway!

Not illegal, just not allowed. All they can do is ask you to leave. It's the same as saying it's illegal to charge a fee for debit or credit card purchases. It's against the card holder agreement, but not illegal.

I WANT to take my cam everywhere, just never do. Dunno why.

I don't leave my gear in the car. I just don't take my bag on errands that require me taking it along. If I take the gear out, I generally don't have anything else going on. I'd rather drop the gear home and then go out to do shopping.

I like to take my camera everywhere I go also. Due to bad experience, I tend to ask whether it's ok to take pictures inside public buildings especially restaurants. :x

I've been taking my gear with me everywhere I go recently.
Mainly because it's my main bag, and you can say, I'm too lazy to take my gear out of my bag =P

I need a new bag. My shoulders are killing me.

Last year, not long after I got my first DSLR, there was a building fire about 1000 feet from my shop. Fire engines, the huge ladder trucks, several alarms responding, etc. The building ended up burning to the ground.

I still regret all the images I lost that day. There were a lot of people standing around taking pictures, and that made it even worse. Since then, I almost always have my camera with me, at least in the trunk if I don't want to lug it on my person.

Wish I'd have had one with me today...

One pickup T-Boned another one right accross my nose while waiting at a light.

Best I could do was call 911instead. Didn't look like there were any injuries (thank goodness)
