Red Bellied Woodpecker story

For more than one week, this little guy has had to find food by himself.
He often flies to the tree overlooking the woodpeckers feeder (here, a bit far for the 70-200, this is almost a 100% crop)

Unfortunately, each time he perches on this tree, this tough guy chases him noisily - seems to think the feeder is his exclusive property...

Then the little guy has to be content with an ordinary feeder, under another tree, not really made for woodpeckers, but where he can at least grab some seeds.

This has been going on for a week, more or less.
Will he gain access to the "regular" feeder once he will have gotten his adult feathers?

Very nice shots of this little guy. You can make it easier for him by smearing bacon and burger grease, or suet, or suet mix from those cakes into the bark of your trees. Use a butter knife to cut and push it into the cracks of the tree bark. The bully bird can only watch one spot at a time. ;)
