This was pretty much my first attempt at fireworks. Some worked, some didn't. None are 'print & hang on the wall' good or anything. Could use some critiquing that's for sure!

I like number 1. There is perspective and I like the way the firework illuminates the guys face.

Yeah, thanks man. It was just good timing that he was lighting that sparkler when I snapped the shot. Sad thing is that I was in the heat of the moment so didn't think that the pool would give off such a great reflection or I could have done a lot more with that. Oh well, live and learn...that's what photography's all about.

These were all done at ISO 400. Exposure times varied but the average was a 2-2.5 sec long. And F stop was also varied but averaged in the middle around 8-9.0.

I really didn't know what I was doing....just kept trying different settings really. Threw it in manual, fixed the F stop and then played around with different exposure times you know. Need to read up more on how to do fireworks correctly....I'm sure someone has perfected it!

I am a instant fan of #2. Sometimes the greatest pictures come when you least expect it. :)

haha, thanks alexm. I do wish it was floating out towards the middle of the pool instead of right there next to the edge and that water noodle thingy.

I like #2 as well. Something about that reflection, edge, and green floater sets it off for me.
