Can't install Ixus Software - help!

Dear Anybody
Am new to digital photography. Just bought an Elph Ixus S230. Can't install the software (Digital Software Solution ver. 11.0) on a Mac OS 9.2.2 - the icon comes up on the desktop and having clicked on the Mac 8/9 folder, a window appears asking me to choose a language: English, French or Spanish. Clicking on any of these results in...nothing.
Can anybody help me - or point me in the right direction about how to fix this.
Thanks.
PS I can't go back to the shop I bought the camera from because I bought it in the US and have moved to Japan. The Canon warranty covers only the country the product was bought in.

I don't own an IXUS but could you tell me what software you got with it? Was it the Arcsoft image and video editing software you are talking about?
