I bought my G2 used about 2 years ago from a large dealer here in Canada. As I'm sure you all know the G2 uses the BP-511 LiIon battery. Well the Canon batterytI got with the camera worked great for about 8 months before refusing to hold a charge. I researched buying another Canon branded BP-511 but here in Canada they sell for $120 CAN dollars. I figured that's nuts, so ended up finding a Chinese knockoff with more capacity and a price tag of about $20 CAN. It's been 1 more year now and now that new battery is at the end of its life too. I use my camera a lot and charge it frequently because of that. The stories I read about 400 shots from a single charge are foreign to me. I've never been able to get anywhere near that sort of battery life. Would it be wise for me to find maybe a CA-560 power adaptor and use that instead? 95% of my photography is product shots or indoor photography. I am normally close to an outlet. I just wonder if its more economical to stop buying replacement batteries and just be able to plug the damn thing in.
Thanks and very nice forum you have here
Mike
