I thought I post my question here since it is more related to film photography. Can an incident light meter replace a spot meter? I have a Pentax V 1 degree spot meter. Unfortunately, it does nothing other than being a spot meter. I want another light meter that could replace the Pentax and being able to meter my flash output. I am thinking about getting the Sekonic 358 and someone is selling it for a low price.
To get the desire zone metering, can I use the Sekonic 358 incident reading and to put the EV to zone 3, -2 stops. Would this be same as metering an emerging shadow area and place the EV at zone 3, using a spot meter? Sekonic sells a spot metering attachment for the 358 but too ridiculously expensive. Would this work for most of the time? I can see that it may not work depending on the reflective surface of the subjects.
