You definitely should. I'm still in love with this camera. A bit big at times but every time I see my negatives it's worth it. I'm considering buying another one as a backup.

What is the difference between the ii and the iii? I see them both for sale.

If you get one, check the shutter count, I think they are rated for 10,000 shots, my GSW690 II had a counter on the bottom. I believe it counts every ten shots. It was recommended to have the shutter serviced after 5,000 shots.

I would love to get into 120 film, but I'm in no position these days. I just got a massive bill to fix my vehicle...haha.

My friend, Angelica. Shot on Kodak Portra 400 with my GW690III and scanned on an Epson V550.

I love the colors in this one. Beautiful tones. Very nice. Really a great example of what makes film unique. You're killing me with that Fuji.....

I really dig the framing from the scanner. Also, I still haven't forgotten about your developing video, hahaha.

Thank you! You really should get one! Just keep an eye out for them on eBay. Every once in a while one comes up at a really good price. I got mine for a really low price and it was in excellent condition.

Indeed the Plustek OpticFilm 8100 comes with SilverFast 8 SE Plus, the "middle variant" in the range of SilverFast products.
It can of course be upgraded to Ai Studio, if need be.
SilverFast 8 means that you can download for free the very latest releases of SilverFast, including support for current operating systems from both, Apple and Microsoft.

If you experience (colored) lines running through the image, especially when they are broader the just a few pixels and there are continuing with the scanner reading the image line by line, this will very probably come from an partially unsuccessful CCD calibration the scanner performs in its initialisation phase.

The reason behind this most often is a "dirty" scanner, having accumulated dust on its CCD.
An canned air pressure spray will in many cases help to remedy this - be careful no to rub (and scratch and dislocate) the CCD with a tissue.
If in doubt, I suggest will want to contact the hardware manufacturer and ask for servicing of the device.

Have a fine day and keep scanning :)

I finally watched your video, and it does look like something I could certainly do. I also found the Epson V600 goes for $200. That may be something I'll look into eventually. Good stuff.

Portra 400.

I also saw Odissee on your channel, lol. I'm a big fan.

Great info. Thanks. The PlusTek only scans 35mm, right? Is there a good option in the same line that will do 120 film including the 6X9? My Epson is pretty good for 120 film but always interested in options. I also agree that the Epson is just ok for 35mm scans. Adequate.
