OwainShaw Some of my best friends are people. More info | Feb 08, 2020 13:16 | #2898 Britania757 wrote in post #19005538 My G1 arrived today! It is hands down the best feeling camera I've shot with. The dials are all in the right spot when I hold the camera. The small viewfinder window doesn't bother me at all. I shot a test roll so I'll soon find out if the auto focus is as bad as people say it is. I did notice times when I had to press the shutter button a few times to get the camera to focus where I wanted it to, but the focus is faster than I thought it would be. Enjoy the new camera! How do you like your Plustek 8200i? I've been considering buying one this week, but I hear abouy people having issues with them on Mac.

I love it! It's significantly better than a flatbed and it's sharper than either a Noritsu or Fujifilm Frontier. I use it with Vuescan which gives better results than Silverfast and scans much faster for some reason. The one real downside to it is that the infrared cleaning doesn't work nearly as good as Digital ICE that comes on the Epson scanners. The infrared will clean obvious dust but it usually misses scratches or fine dust. Gear: https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=18556308

Good to hear. I just found an 8200i SE in good condition for $250 so I'm buying it today. I never use the digital ICE feature on my Epson so I should be OK.

I've started scanning everything at 3600dpi and resizing the images to 2048 pixels on the long end; that'll give you the best results for web. If you want to print big, you'll have to scan at 7200dpi and resize down for the highest quality. Gear: https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=18556308

Feb 10, 2020 20:14 | #2906 Has anyone here shot any of the Astrum bw films? I walked over to a camera store in Eugene Oregon this afternoon and they had it for sale. I passed on it because I didn't know if I could find any development info for it in xtol and I was too lazy to get my phone out and look it up. I got back to the hotel and started reading up on it and I absolutely love the way the 100 speed looks. Now I'm kicking myself for not buying it, but I just ordered some online. It's dirt cheap so I won't be too upset if I don't like my results.

The Svema Factory, in Shostka, Ukraine was founded in 1931. For over six decades, they produced a wide variety of photographic films and plates and ceased operations in the 1990's. Astrum Ltd., known for their aerial film products, now carries on Svema's legacy in Shostka - by releasing new films using some of the old Svema machinery. Astrum Foto 100 is a panchromatic, high resolution, negative film, coated onto a transparent 0.10mm polyester base. Foto 100 has a protection layer on top of its emulsion to prevent scratching. The spectral sensitivity of Foto 100 is expanded into the near infrared range of the energy spectrum. Its spectral sensitivity to up to 750nm. Due to its very fine grain, its explicit detail rendering, and its ability to be processed at low contrast, this film is produces very low noise when scanned. The film should be stored in the dark and handled in subdued light. Due to this film's unique characteristics and being loaded in re-useable cassettes, it is important to keep the film out of the light as much as possible, for best results. Features Traditional black and white film Polyester base, better for scanning Near infrared Non DX coded -Dane

Feb 11, 2020 12:11 | #2909 Probably a stupid question, but has anyone ever tried these build it yourself cameras, and if so what did you think? Sounds kind of interesting to me. TerryMc

Britania757 Goldmember More info Post edited over 3 years ago by Britania757. | I've heard nothing but bad things about them. From the parts not fitting correctly to them breaking within 10 minutes of using them. There was a YouTube video recently and the guy said it was the worst camera he had ever used.
