Also built a beauty dish style reflector so I can diffuse somewhat while still retaining harsher shadows than when used with an umbrella or even a stofen. This is made out of a parabolic reflector from a reflector lamp. I cut off the threaded area on the back, and then cut 4 notches so I could adjust the metal sides to adequately fit the flash head, since I knew I was using velcro. I taped over all the sharp areas with electrical tape. I then made a reflector plate inside to bounce the speedlite's flash back into the reflector, which was secured with wood screws that were later hot glued to ensure they remained in place. I painted it matte white and called it a day--works great!
I know, I was shooting over sync with my iSight
