Beautiful images Joe...that young loon is sure scruffy looking. I've never seen a loon but have heard them across a lake years ago. Excellent catch!

Thanks Steve. The baby still has his downy plumage which makes him looks scruffy. He spent quite a bit of time preening himself.

Great shots Joe... I especially enjoy the chick image... I need to get out on the inland lakes and see these guys instead of chasing warblers most of the time.... :)

Nice shots.. I used to see these back in my bass fishing days, never once thinking about photographing them..:rolleyes:

Aren't the loons great to photographs. I spent two weeks doing nothing but loons and it's chilling to hear their calls at 5:45 in the morning.

Very nice set of images here Joe and they make me nostalgic for the many Summers I spent on Mississippi Lake. There is nothing like the call of the Loon, especially on a starry night
