I went and shot photos of a lawn mower racing event my friend was in. This was not a sanctioned event but it loosely followed a few official rules.

I'll have more photos as I get them done, but here are a few for starters.

Thanks. I like 2 and 7 the most.

The finished photos are trickling into my flickr page. I get a few done each night. I have 100 more to go through and I figure 10-15 of them will be alright or better.

I'll post a few more if they are awesome.

For those of you interested in some details about the event......

There were 8 racers. One guy was starting his mower with a welder instead of a battery.... lol

They did qualifying first, they each got a warm up lap and then had to lay down a qualifying lap. My friend in the first photo got TQ.

Then they did 2 heat races. The top 4 in one the bottom 4 in another. These races determined starting order in the feature. The heats were 5 laps.

Then they all ran in the feature which was 15 laps.

My buddy from photo 1 was way faster than anyone else in the corners, but that yellow mower was pulling wheelies and flying by everyone in the straights. 10 laps into the feature my buddy broke a hub and his back wheel came flying off. I was at the wrong end of the track and missed the whole damn thing!

It was fun. These guys were doing 35 to 40 down the back stretch and the funny thing was my friend was the only one with brakes...... lol

I am ALWAYS trying to come up with creative shots like #2. I think I need to stop trying and just shoot because thats what I did to get #2.

Cool! Fun shots. #1 is way too soft of a pan shot but all the others are good. 7 is a nice pan shot. Good work:)
