Here are a couple shots from a local show we had here in Seattle, this is my second time photographing a show and I feel like they turned out pretty good. Tried working with a couple different positioning of the flashes to get some lens flare. C&C is always welcomed.

The only one in which the entire face isn't covered with microphone hand is the last and there is serious flare and he's looking away.

Have you been to a hip hop show before? 95% of the time the artist has the mic glued to their face. I know then shoot the other 5%, but there isn't any emotion. They're usually tying to pump up the crowd. The lens flare was intentional. Here are a couple pictures you may like more.

Thank you for your input, I'll try capturing them without the mic more on my next shoot.

I like #4.
All made with off camera flash?
Available light wasn't enough? They lack the "live atmosphere" a bit now.

Yeah, getting hip hoppers to come away from the mic can be hard, but I still think that something like #4 works way better then #1 or 3 for instance.

Yup. Neither my partner nor I have anything lower than a 4.5 and our iso only goes up to 1200 lol.

I agree, I'm gonna try more on the second shoot to catch um without the mic.
