I apologize if this topic has already been discussed here (my search did not throw up any results). Mods, please delete if that is the case.

I have a Rebel XT with a 17-40 & 70-200 F4L IS. Of late, my pictures have not been as sharp as before. I was planning to send the camera and lens to the Canon Service center for refocusing and cleaning. Would you recommend that or is it worth just sending the lens?

Also, would anyone recommend any other dealer in the Northern VA/DC area for similar kind of work?

Appreciate any response on this.

Thanks!
Vinay

I work at at Canon and we recommend you send both. You can also opt to have the lens calibrated to your body (after the body is checked, of course) or you can have it calibrated to the standard body. If you plan on upgrading your XT anytime soon, I would recommend you have them use the standard body.
