Rebates take a while, but I've always received them. I think it's because they can get the interest on your money for several months before they have to return it to you, so each of us loses that intesest while we wait for the rebate check.

I have had good luck with Canon and Sandisk rebates on many occasions. I had some problems with Lexar rejecting my claims for some bogus reason, but a phone call instantly straightened it out, although they did manage to stretch it out for another month that way. I think the YA fiasco has soured most everyone on rebates and I much prefer the instant rebate at the checkout.

I am not real fond of the "Visa Card Rebate" as I find them difficult to spend. You can't use them for online purchases easily since most online merchants only accept a single card for a purchase. Local purchases are ok if they totally consume the card, otherwise you have to keep track of exactly how much remains on the card since they can't tell at the register how much remains. I usually just buy gas with them and try to stop the pump at exact dollar amounts to keep the "bookkeeping" simple, but with the price of gas these days the dials whiz past so fast it is really hard to stop it exactly where you want.

I got two $70 rebates from Sandisk at the end of last year. First one took a while, second one was relatively quick (for a rebate at least).

I've received all of my rebates, but I always keep extensive copies of everything just in case...

I absolutely loathe mail in rebates, however, I did get my sandisk rebate (today!) and i sent it in on about the 10th of may. So eh. I sent in a manfrotto rebate and still haven't gotten that.

I received my $100 rebate from Gitzo relatively quickly.

On the other hand I sent in two rebates to Sandisk (for the same items and up to three rebates were allowed) and only one came up on the rebate web site (and only after a long time). When I called they only had one rebate registered.

After some persistance they did find the second rebate. They said the problem was that I sent in both rebates in the same envelope

I did finally get the rebates though.

I now send everthing separately, keep copies of all of the paperwork, and also send them return receipt/certified mail. It is crazy but for large rebates it gives me some piece of mind.

Not crazy, especially the RR/CM. Then there is no way they can say they didn't get it.

I generally avoid buying anything with a mail in rebate like the plague.

To me it's just not worth my time to cut out the UPC's, fill out the paperwork, mail the letter and then deal with a third party rebate company denying my perfectly legitimate claim for any number of ridiculous reasons.

Maybe the rebate check comes in two months, maybe not.

I'm just not going to jump through that many hoops for a few lousy bucks.

I got back $140 from Sandisk, made it so my 6 8gb memory cards cost me $40 total. Well worth the time.
