guys, i just earned a $600 gift card from Best Buy. What should I get thats photo related.

Here is what I have now:

5dmkII
85mm 1.8
25-105 f/4 L
5 MDH bag
New imac desktop

I was thinking of new glass, but I'd end up putting another $1k into the deal. Now, i'm thinking of either some type of PP program like lightroom 2 or Elements. Maybe some sandisk memory cards and a nice tripod?

Help!!!

No kidding. Ditch the card and use the money at Adorama, BH, or Amazon.com

I agree, sell it off on ebay for 500 and shoot for somewhere else, BB is horrible. Its not what it used to be.

that money would go further elsewhere, but if you have to, then you have to...
buy something easy to re-sell right away... then use the cash at a real store

External hard drive(s) for backup. Lightroom, Aperture, or Photoshop. Memory cards.

i've asked before, but never got a clear answer.

Is lightroom 2 or Element most similar to DPP? I tried cs3 once and almost blew a fuse w/ all the options and modules. I just want something that can convert from raw to jpg and has capabilities of DPP, but better.

ps: I'd really like to learn the affect whereby you make one item in the pic color and the rest B&W. I think this is layering?

thanks

You can do that easily with Lightroom2. All you would need to do is use a saturated brush, moving the saturation all the way left, and brushing across the pic. It will turn anything you touch with it b*w and leave what you dont in color. Lightroom is a great photomanaging software. CS is more for heavy duty work. Lightroom will help you greatly in adjusting your pics and also converiting raw into jpeg. I use it a love it!

Choices:
1) Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro
2) Canon 580EXII
3) Canon 17-40L F/4
4) Canon 70-200 F/4 (no IS)
5) Canon 15mm fisheye

Each one will bring something different to your set up. Wide, macro, telephoto or flash. See which one would be more interesting.

I would not get SW here. Look for educational discount to buy Adobe lightroom 2. It's around $100-150 I think.
