Choices:
1) Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro
2) Canon 580EXII
3) Canon 17-40L F/4
4) Canon 70-200 F/4 (no IS)
5) Canon 15mm fisheye

Each one will bring something different to your set up. Wide, macro, telephoto or flash. See which one would be more interesting.

I would not get SW here. Look for educational discount to buy Adobe lightroom 2. It's around $100-150 I think.

awesome. looks like LR 2 is only $99 for teachers. Looks like you can buy from the site, but u don't have to prove you are a teacher? Lucky for me, my wife is, but if anyone can just buy it at the discounted price, then I will.

thanks

i am in your situation now with a $500 GC from Best Buy. I have been trying to sell it on CL for a couple of weeks and only get lowball offers.

then i figured I would use it on a monitor but all they sell are TN panels which SUCK for picture editing.

i have had this card for a year and am sick of it sitting my my drawer.

Right now im considering the following:

Sandisk 8 gig card
Spare battery for my mk II
Mini DV tapes for my camcorder
Possibly a printer.

Does anyone know if they sell filters for the 24-105 at BB? i may pick one of those up too.

I would do all my christmas shopping for others with my gift card! I haven't had any issue with BB, but I have always done my research prior, insisted on price matching, and used my reward zone card.

Full time student also qualify as well in some cases. From what I have read, it's a full version as well. No crippling of any kind. The only difference is that it can not be used toward a full version upgrade later.

I thought BB would match competitors prices, you might want to check that before you go selling your gift card.

Only local price. So if you live in NY, Best Buy will match BH.

guys, i just earned a $600 gift card from Best Buy. What should I get thats photo related.

Here is what I have now:

5dmkII
85mm 1.8
25-105 f/4 L
5 MDH bag
New imac desktop

I was thinking of new glass, but I'd end up putting another $1k into the deal. Now, i'm thinking of either some type of PP program like lightroom 2 or Elements. Maybe some sandisk memory cards and a nice tripod?

Help!!!

I've been able to get BB to price match B&H without much hassle, so you might want to try.

BB sells Canon flash units. I don't see a 430EX or 580EX in your gear list. Although they are full MSRP, which is expensive!!

Other ideas might be printers, ink, paper, hard drives, DVD/Bluray burners, Bags, tripods (the have lower end manfrotto and velbon), digital frame, software, etc, etc,

Buy some memory cards and a couple external Hard Drives. They will eventually be needed if not already. Or if you don't already have it Lightroom 2 is a must have.

For memory cards and filters, you can do WAY better by buying at HVstar (online) (filters) or by waiting for a SanDisk rebate combined with a sale at Adorama or B&H. Seriously, you'll save yourself ALOT of money. Unless you don't want to deal with the hassle of selling your gift card, this is a much better way to go.

Last thing I got from BB was my Samsung 37" LCD TV for $850 and then I got a wall mount from monoprice for $30 to go with it. :D

I can't think of anything photo related that I'd want to get from BB. Maybe a Mac, but I'm a PC guy. Hard drives drop in price quick so I wouldn't get one unless I needed one soon.. I guess we could use a dishwasher in this house or something

Best Buy will match resale competitors and not wholesale just as a FYI since I work with Best Buy and not all the time with internet competitors.
