All of these Minolta Lenses... What to do?

I inherited six Minolta lenses this week. They are all great lenses, five good sought after primes and one zoom, and also a flash. They cover more focal lengths than I have for my Canon set up.

I am not going to get rid of my Canon set up any time soon, but I am thinking about buying a Sony camera to use these lenses with. I don't really want to have two different systems though and I don't really want to spend money on a Sony camera, so the other option is to sell off the lenses to buy more canon equipment.

hmm.....

Are they new or old lenses? Have you looked into adapters?

Are they maxxum or Minolta MC/MD mount? Sony used the Maxxum, but there is no real adapter options for the MC/MD stuff. If they are Maxxum, and depending on how nice they are, well, the A700 is pretty dang good and competes well with the 40D.

They are maxxum lenses so they should fit on a Sony. I looked into an adapter, but I couldn't really find anything. I think they are from the early 90's. If you know of any adapter let me know.

The lenses that I have are:

AF 20/2.8 RS
AF 35/2
AF 50/1.4
AF Macro 100/2.8 RS
AF 100-300/4.5-5.6 APO
AF Reflex 500/8
5400 HS Flash with a battery pack

You have inherited some VERY nice glass...
In my opinion well worth the investment in a body.
But, if you decide to sell send me a PM.

For info on them go here... http://www.dyxum.com/lenses/index.asp (external link)

with this set just bite the bullet and get a Sony body, A200 is a very good value atm, or get something better if your budget allows.

WOW! Nice kit!! Easily worth $2-3K. Those will definitely work on any Sony body without any adapters. Sony just used the Minolta AF mount, so they pop right on there.

I'd get a body and switch to sony with that kit. Sony is really pretty good, other then lens availability and you have that covered from the get go. A The A700 is pretty much somewhere in between the 30D and 40D, and the A300 line is about Rebel XSI level depending on preference.

I feel like getting a Sony body to use all of these lenses, but then sometimes I think that I should just sell them and buy a few more lenses to go with the 5Dii that I recently purchased. The Minolta lenses would really make a perfect kit. If i wasn't in love with the 5Dii I probably would switch to Sony.

I really wish all of these lenses were Canon and would just fit on the 5D!

I'm a little nostalgic about Minolta. I shot with there slr's for a long time. If you don't need the cash I'd keep em and pick up a body to go with em. :D

I'd definately drop the cash for an a700 given those lenses...

One of them [the 500/8] is worth it enough to me :)
