Not that I'm answering for the world or anything. If I drink I just fall asleep and miss everything, it's kinda dull.

As i said, from using Rich's i cant see it being an issue at all.

The inside of these lastolite copies is fully reflective - the face of the speedlight sits just at the opening at the back, not inside the softbox itself, so the light gets bounced around allot. You could also use a sto-fen to scatter the light so it is more like a bare bulb set-up too.

I don't have any examples to hand, but the light from the lastolite copy is very even and soft. I have no buyers remorse - I got mine for £39 including delivery and i am considering getting another one.

From the video on the ebay page, it looks like the only real difference is that one and the lastolite copy is that the lastolite has 2 diffusion panels instead of just the one.

Sounds like you've never been introduced to a Vodka & Red Bull ;)

I was introduced to Red Bull in the 90s and decided it was shockingly evil.

I agree. This is why it needs to be "watered down" with the aforementioned vodka ;)

Lol. I'll take my chances on sobriety over Red Bull.

EDIT: Souporman, just looked at your blog. Nice shot of my mates armoured car at the G20. Current proceedings on that indicate they are all going to get banged up for impersonating police officers (as they couldn't pin anything else on them).

I'm not too sure on that one, it seems like with a gaping hole in the rear a lot of the light will bounce out the back of it! :(

You are firing the light forward though Matt, much the same as a shoot through umbrella. Out of interest what benefit would the softbox give over say a £20 33" shoot through umbrella?

You have more control over the edges of the light. A softbox produces a more directional light than an umbrella, which spead ligh over a very large area, with undefined edges.

Cheers :)

That's what they were arrested for on the spot that day. One of the members of the group was talking to me, probably assuming I was press or something, and filled me in.

To be honest, from my flat window I thought they were police officers so I can kind of see their point.

I did think their armored car was pretty cool though :)

Yep, but some of the light will be reflected by the white cloth and will escape out the back. To be fair, it's probably a negligable amount. But when you're only lightsource is a 430EX/II you might need all the light you can produce!!! :D

I see your point, it does move rather quick. Perhaps just a quick check every day to see what's happening.

By the way if anyone wants to put a meet in the first post just PM me or Pete if I'm not about.

Yep, I can do that. But I'm on holiday for two weeks starting on Tuesday... :D

Anke wrote in post #8499290 (external link)
I wonder if it's possible to have a PM Mailing List on POTN for organising meets? It would be great to have a list of all in this thread and then just mail all at the click of a button. Pete?

I guess it could be done that way, but of course you'll only be including the "regulars" in that list, anyone lurking who might want to attend won't be included in a PM list.

It's probably best to be in the first post of the thread, that idea's worked pretty well in the past.

And Facebook of course. :D

Lol. Good old student political activists. On a serious note the guy I know is playing it down but as you say from a distance they look legit and could have caused problems. Apparently it's in court early next year, he's playing down that they'll really get sent to prison but I'd not be surprised if they do myself.

We also had to endure a lot of questions on how to get the thing running too as it was a bit knackered when they bought it.
