Nice shot Laurence! :) Although personally I would have liked to see more of the plane and less of the vapour trails ... a bit like this:

And I'm not just saying that because that's my photo!

Seriously mate, well done! :D

Thanks Pete, Kevin, Jonathan & David.

Imagery wise I agree many more frame filling shots can have the edge but as mentioned it was the Hawk Display Team pilots who did the judging and lucky for me perhaps mine "spoke" to them more than some of the others???

Though such frame filling shots are very commonplace ;)

If you want to wander over and take a look the site/forum (which is good for such military aviation matters IMO) here is the linky to the comp thread http://www.fightercontrol.co.uk …/viewtopic.php?f=127&t=57 (external link)

The image incidently was taken with the 40D and my 100-300mm IS at if I recall 300m and this is a crop ~ he was climbing very rapidly in that part of the routine.

:D

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

As the weather is changing and becoming less friendly I'm considering the purchase of a rain cover for my camera. Wondering if anyone has any recommendations of ones that are good or ones to avoid.

Hey all, hows it going?

I was thinking of heading to Richmond for sunrise on Monday.

Anyone else game?

Gah.

Nope. My manager has told me (with a bit of a smirk) that I'll probably be quite busy over the next few weeks.

I have a feeling it'll probably involve some more overseas work. I really hate doing that.

Working, sorry mate. Though I am looking forward to that extra hour of sleep :)

I may head to Hyde park on Saturday to see how the leaves are coming along...

Yep, I quite like the free ones that you get in hotels...they're called shower caps. ;)

I have the Kata set.
I'ts a little bit cumbersome, however provides excellent protection.
Because most of the time I'm shooting with 1D and L lenses, I only use the cover when I'm facing prolongued periods of heavy rain.

I use the following:
E702

E704

I use a www.stormjacket.com (external link) cover - they are in a variety of sizes and colours, but fold up small and do the job... (I use it on my 100-400 and it's roomy - seem to recall it cost about £40)

For the price difference the Kata E704 seems much better VFM.

I think you need to have the 702 for the 704 to work though - looks quite expensive :(
