Thanks all, certainly did not miss the weather !!

Laurence it was the hotel park which is right on the front. I will post a picture when I am back

Rob yes the 17-40 got plenty of work, it is the first time I have really used it.

I will post some more but it will have to wait for the weekend as I am off for a few days.
Took over 700 and I have only scratched the surface so far so will have some late nights

Aye will be a good day!
Shame as I'm in a lucky position that most of my kit is better that the official togs ;) although she has got a new 5DMKII but she is borrowing my 70-200 2.8 as hers is the F4 and the other guy shoots a Nikon D3 so nuff said ;)
They are both a bit stressed out shooting this wedding worried I won't keep my gob shut and let them get on with it ;) They are friends and great togs so they'll be OK.
The only down side is the Charity Shield is the following day! gutted that I won't be on the sidelines at Wembley shooting that!! Weddings!!!

HI people-new and established :) I've been busy at work so just been floating around on here trying to keep up! some great shots added recently!! I have also been reading, reading and more blooming reading about advice on a non L zoom to replace my poo kit lens! I seem to have Sigma Tamron and Canon bleeding out my eyes and still not closer to getting anything.
I can only part with about £250 so limited choice but I am leaning towards a used non Canon for the better speed lens up to about 70mm and then perhaps a 55-250 or a 70-300mm Canon.
If you can give me your input if you have had the cheap skate lenses in your poorer days :) then I would much appreciate it. To me most advice I read is get the 18-55 iS or spend 3x as much on L glass

There is 3 types of people in the world-those that can count and those that cannot.

I had a 70-300 IS Canon as my first zoom lens, nice and compact, light and easy to carry around. Quality was good. I found my copy very soft at 300mm. On some other forums people rave about some of the Tamron kit but had no experience myself.

oversight on my part - I should have read your sig a little closer - no wonder they are nervy! I shot a friends wedding earlier this year and it is daunting, I think the most pressure comes from wanting to do your friends proud - especially if they are proficient toggers themselves!

are you off anywhere photgraphable on honeymoon yourselves?

Had the 55-250 IS great lens mine was very sharp and with the IS, albeit the non USM makes it a bit noisy but very compact, would not hesitate in recommending one

Couple of shots with the 55-250

I'll be winding them up no doubt and I'll get some stick back for sure!

Honeymoon is 3 weeks in China, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Xi'an, Harbin, Yichun, Beijing
Should be lots of great chances for photos but my problem is what do I pack in the bag. 70-200 or 100-400, defo going with the 24-70. prob go for 70-200 and 24-70 and 580ex.

Chortster I replaced my kit lens with the Sigma 18-50 f2.8 and love it. For range I got a Sigma 70-300 APO DG Macro when I bought my camera but at 300mm it's too soft for my liking. Got the 70-200 F4L now was £465 from Kerso and it's a far better lens (if you can cope without that little extra reach, and afford the cost). It's one of those things though, the money swiftly scales up.

Were you more local I'd let you have a play of the Sigma to see how you felt with it before buying one (or selling you mine as it's unused now).

I've got a 24" Iiyama on my gamin PC, which is about the right size, any larger and you'd need to sit further back to take it all in.
