Back in from the fireworks display, left the camera at home as it absolutely poured down. Sods law it was dry for the fireworks. Unfortunately for some bizarre reason they set them off from near the castle rather than the end of the pier as they've done since time immemorial. I'd have struggled to get some good shots in that situation anyway.

Apparently tomorrow we have "Kent's best carnival" according to the bloke on the mic. Somehow I don't believe him, either that or the rest of Kent must have some really bad carnivals.

Hey everyone! Been a while again.

Letting you know I'm back from my trip, safe, and happy.

And biggest news of all, I have a working laptop again. 6 weeks it took for Acer to repair! Not good!

Shall be posting/blogging/facebooking tons of images over the next few weeks before I start work.

Anything important I missed out in the past 3 weeks? Birthdays/weddings/newborns? Congratulations you lot! Oh and I see Adam has a new flat in Greenhithe.. so if he's posting here still, congrats ;)

normal cross dressing confessions here but welcome back and glad you had a good time

BOOOYA!

That was true, was a good group overall. :)

As for mucking about tonight, tried to rework the cuff links and reflections are a lot less distracting without having to blur our.

love them only thing is the reflection on the top curves for such a clean image draws my eye perhaps a white sheet above them? but they are very good shots.

Ah yes radio going on about that I may pop over with the family as I'm off tomorrow, if the weather is ok :)

Lee, what time are you likely to be heading to the hawk conservancy on Sunday? I am still very interested in tagging along, but just need to work out the logistics.

I think it opens at ten, but I am flexible really... the bit I am most interested in is the end of the day "wild bird" feeding in the meadow... if you can get to nearish me then I am happy to come and pick you up... but would probably be looking to leave about half nine(ish) - let me know what works for you and I'm sure we can organise something!

There was live music (which was balls) at Deal Pier last night followed by fireworks. In the old days they had a respected local band and the fireworks were launched from the end of the pier so you could see them clearly all along the beach. Now they seem to take whatever acts they can get cheap regardless of quality and the fireworks were down by the castle, so awkward to see.

Tonight the carnival starts at around 7pm with it kicking off from the Walmer end of the Strand then working it's way down past the castle and along the sea front toward Sandown Castle. Interest of the participants generally peters out by the time they reach the Royal Hotel. Most years over 80% of the carnival is carnival queens or majorettes. The local businesses do seem to have lost interest in doing floats over the years.

Found this little visitor in the garden yesterday. Does anyone know what type it is? Red Admiral maybe?

Thanks. Yeah I moved the cuff links around to different places and threw a towel over my TV which you can just make out also.

Im just using a white bit of paper as the base so I shall try and build a surround tonight for it. :)

Sounds like I'm being dragged to the carnival so I'm thinking 70-200 or 18-50? Not sure if I cba to lug everything.

Sounds good - I should be able to get across to you for about nine. I will pm you for further details after work this evening :)
I had a quick look at the daily schedule for the conservancy and it does look like they put allot of shows on!

70-200 for people shots. 18-50 for float shots. I'd plump for the 70-200 if I was only taking the one.
