Been down to Brighton for the day.

Here is an unprocessed iPhone pic of the beach and pier from Flickr (external link).

D'Oh! :D At least you made the effort. I've been stuck in a bit of a rut recently. Nothing I take is any good and I can't seem to find any inspiration.

tear yourself away from your beloved RTW on Sunday and come along to the Hawk Conservancy - it'll be full of inspiration al type stuff! :D

Sorry dude, I work Sundays :( I'd love to go. :(

Ouch! What's this about a train strike though?

Yep it's the National Express trains, if I had passed my driving test already I could've driven to Upminster and got the tube, but still a little while away yet.
Saves me some money though I suppose! Trouble is I get withdrawal now, I don't like it when I've not had anything to take photos of in a while (apart from my children that is).

Right, I fancy making one of these: https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=650854 anyone local know anywhere likely to sell the bits, or somewhere UK based online selling them. Don't want to be picking up bits here and there and costing more on the delivery. Going to a shop and buying the bits in person seems easier mind.

attach it to a tripod plate and then you have a DIY rapid strap :)

That's my thinking sylvester, discovered those today as it solves myproblem (I like to wear the camera across my body messenger bag style) and a traditional strap catches and stops me getting the camera up easily. Downside is I think the yanks as usual don't use English for these things. I can't seem to find these products in the UK so suspect we call them something different, and googling for straps finds me watch straps and bag straps rather than lengths of webbing straps that aren't for a military purpose.

EDIT: Having posted that I've found somewhere selling enough stuff for me to make a number of these at a great price apart from decent "snap hooks". Curses.

Just finished sorting some shots from the weekend,
Here's a fun one:

Shot with on camera flash, but I think it came out rather nice!

And here's a nice action one:
(Well more 'pose' than action)

sorry not embedding the image in the post without watermark, doing it from the office.

Just ordered 10m of 20mm webbing, 10 plastic side release buckles (as used on all rucksacks everywhere), and 10 of the adjuster things. So I can make my strapping, and knock up a carry thing for my tripod. Just need to source a "snap hook" that will work, or say sod it and weld a ring to a bolt to go in the base of the camera, which is probably an easier option. Total cost so far £6, I may be able to make 3 of these straps for the rough cost of the one in the thread I linked to.

sounds good I'm not too great at following through with the DIY projects although my grids get alot of use. I just found out the other day that optech do a tripod strap (external link) and I will pick one up one soon and I am heading to ATL in Sptember So I will pick one of them dual rapid stap things.

I'm think one of the originals may good for carrying around a lightstand or two as well.

Fortunately being tight I'll grab a DIY job, especially when I know it's something I can do myself. Made my own shutter release for the camera, improvised some bits for my belt which this kit may help improve. Made a number of those DIY softbox projects. Amazing what you can achieve with silver gaffa tape, some tracing paper and a cardboard box.

can't you use a carabina for the snap hook?giottos camera plates have a very sturdy ring on them which screws into the bottom of the camera body.
