It appears that the Dell 2009WA is in the process of being discontinued. I tried to order one from their website yesterday and found that the information has been removed. Furthermore, when I tried to chat with a rep, I was told that I could not order one. When I pressed the agent for more information, I received a very vague response, which was simply, call back in 3-5 weeks. Finally today I found this information...click here. (external link) (I hope it's okay to post this here).

It could be that Dell is just working through a glitch with the manufacturer. However, based on the responses from Dell, it doesn't look good.

Said two different monitors (there is a 2009 as well as 2209), but not likely that it's discontinued. If you check the link in the 2209 thread, you'll get an error message that says it's so back ordered that they cannot process any new orders.

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

True, but at this point they are not even willing to contact you with further information when they become available...that seems a little strange.

I ordered mine june 26 and just got it today.
Maybe they are making a newer and better one?

Go on ebay, I think there is a guy selling them for cheap cheap.
Great monitor btw, I'll never go back to a laptop or any other similar sized display.

I'm not sure if it was BH or Adaroma, but last summer when the 11-16 came out and was continually backordered, I called the company and they said manufacturers usually don't give out info on when their product will be shipped again. The guy didn't say why, just that they don't know until the product is shipped.

never heard of a company that does that when they are this far oversold... B&H did the same thing with 1dmkiii you know.

Update...I chatted with a Dell rep yesterday and she said the the 2209wa was "no longer available." When I pressed her to as whether or not the unit was discontinued, she did not know.

it is not discontinued. once Dell goes past the "Will ship in 3-5 weeks" status, they don't allow orders. so since they can't guarantee status in 3-5 weeks, they just basically pull it until they can meet demand better.

my order from 7-1 hasn't shipped.

Interesting...

From Dell- Chris M in the thread:
If we do not have the same model, we ill replace it with an equivalent or better.

I for one would like to know what the replacement IPS monitor is, and if I need to break out my zerostat and have some fun.

moew!!!!!

I ordered one on Monday. It arrived today. Its a pretty nice monitor. Reminded me of what I'd been missing all these years since switching from a CRT to TN lcd panels

My guess is that these people are not in the USA. IIRC it's avail in a few other markets like Canada.

I am in the USA (Atlanta, GA actually). I got mine by NOT ordering it from Dell. I hunted around for other distributors and emailed them to find out whether there were any in stock.

I immediately ordered from the first one to reply that they had some left (they had 4 as of Monday). They sent it out that same day (3 cheers for small shops!)

-EDIT- I just checked and no one has any listed anymore

According to Dell's website,

http://accessories.dell.com …&l=en&s=corp&sku=320-7825 (external link)

the 2209wa ships in 1-2 weeks. But there is no place on the page that says how much it costs or to add the item to a cart. Dell Sales is closed at this hour so I can't check with them.
