So my 10-22 was attached to my 30D, and got knocked off the table and it fell 2 feet. There is no damage to the exterior of the lens.....it just broke off at the base. It looks like it will only need the base (the smallest black piece, which houses the AF/MF slider, as well as the focal length window.........and a couple of flat ribbon cables. Otherwise it appears to be just fine.

Anyone know what it'll cost to repair? Figure it has happened to someone before. I wasn't sure if maybe there is a base charge from Canon.....or even if I should just take it to my local camera store (which is reputable).

Thoughts and opinions are appreciated.

I think Canon charges $100 (or somewhere in that neighborhood) just to look at the lens.

Ouch! Sorry to hear of your unfortunate mishap. Any damage to the 30D camera body?

I dropped my 100mm macro a couple years ago (actually, it rolled off the counter) and fell about 3ft. It wasn't attached to a body. but it certainly wouldn't not focus. I paid a little over 100 for repair.

Man, I always cringe before opening a thread like this, and this one was no exception. I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune. I would think that repairing this one would be cheaper than buying another one, so I would send it in to Canon.

Definitely will be sending it to Canon tomorrow. Repairs look minimal.....so it should be ok.

For you folks that sent your lenses to Canon for repairs.....what was the turn around like?

I say 300-400 bucks. That's what costed me to repair a much smaller damage on this lens.

I'm sure it will be cheaper than a new 10-22, but more than $100.
