I have DPP v3.4.1 and can't use the 'Lens Abberation Correction' to correct vignetting, CA or distortion as the option is disabled. This only happens for my EFS 18-200. It works for the Tamron 17-50.
How can this be?
Also, dpreview specifically states that they used DPP for the 18-200 in their review. I think i have the latest version of DPP from here (external link) but i've read about a v3.5 which i cant seem to find the link to.

purpletiger,

version 3.6.1 is available from Canon Europe. I downloaded mine in May. The problem seems to be that they offer ALL the versions leaving the user to do the weeding out.

Thanks Lowner, my bad. Must check next time before falsely accusing! Still, Canon could make it a tad easier to get to the latest version of DPP cos googling 'DPP latest version' doesn't seem to work too good (for me anway).
If anyone is reading this, when you get to your camera model in the Download Library page, remember to select which OS you are using (XP, Mac, etc) and only then will the latest version of DPP magically appear on the list of downloads!

Glad you found it. But your Tamron 17-50 cannot really be recognised by the software? Maybe DPP is getting confused. If thats the case, I'd not assume that the corrections are correct.

It should be in the help somewhere. Non Canon lenses are definitely NOT supported. Use Lensfun for that ;).

They are not supported but sometimes they confuse the camera and it writes an incorrect notation in the Exif that causes DPP to open the Lens Correction panel. My Sigma 15-30 does that too.

They don't confuse the camera (well perhaps, but not in the way you think they do ;). In the lens <-> communication protocol there seems to be an identifier that says which lens it is. Non Canon lenses reuse identifiers from corresponding (??) Canon lenses, thereby lying to the camera. And, apparently, DPP uses this identifier to determine if it has correction data for this lens or not.

So, if DPP thinks it has correction data for a certain a non Canon lens, then it will use correction data from some Canon lens A to correct data from non Canon lens B. As the needed corrections for lens B most likely ARE different from lens A, you will actually worsen your pictures.

Yes, I should have said "mislead" rather than "confuse".

For my Sigma 15-30 Exiftool shows this field in the Maker's Notes:

LensType : Canon EF 17-35mm f/2.8L or Sigma Lens
