Best way to resize for posting on POTN

Hello everyone I have a question about resizing, I recently posted several pictures in the wedding forum the Images after I resized them down to 150kb or less all looked oof but the full size files and the ones I rezied for my website (although not as small as 150kb) all are sharp what am I doing wrong ?Any help with this would certainly be appreciated.
