I'm finally getting around to updating 5DMKII firmware and one of the admonitions in the instructions is to confirm that the uncompressed files size matches the size indicated on the Canon site, and if it differs to download it again.

The Canon site shows a file size of 9,577,036. I've downloaded it twice and I keep getting an uncompressed file size of 9353. Is this OK? Thanks.

That has to do with the funny way computers deal with "kilo".

One kilobyte is 1024 bytes. So 9,577,036 bytes is 9353 kilobytes. I think you are okay.

Thanks for your response, yanr. I'll cross my fingers and give it a try.

I don't think any of my firmware downloads have matched what Canon said they'd be. I was told that as long as they're close it's ok.
