5d mk II
or
EF 300 2.8 L IS USM

dillemnas...dillemnas
potential next purchases, sooner or later ill probably get both but i need help deciding wich one comes first
the 5d mk II would be usefull for a aurora photo op next year, but so would the 300 2.8
another case scenario would be to save up a tad more and go right for the 400 2.8 but im still shaky on that one

I voted for the 300 f/2.8 since I noticed that you had a 5D in your sig. If I had the 5D I'd go glass... unless you needed the Mk II to shoot video.

depends though, does the OP need 3200 or 6400? If so, the 5Dii adds those as usable ISOs. Video and liveview are great as well. It depends on what you shoot really whether the bells and whistles the 5Dii brings to the table are worth it. The MP upgrade probably isn't though.

Personally, I'd go with the body because the 300 2.8 doesn't appeal to me. Had you asked about a 500/600 f4 or 800, then I'd change my answer. ;)

300/2.8 since I already have a mkII. :)

If I did not have a mkII, I'd choose the mkII.

Too much stuff, not enough shooting time.

Canon T4i (2 lenses), Fuji X100s, Olympus OM-D EM-1 (3 lenses)

hmm i love both my 400 5.6 and 70-200 2.8, but there often i needed a tad of extra reach but 5.6 just couldnt cut it so the 300 2.8 wouldve been prefect @ eaglerock
