Hi guys, might be getting the bug [groan] for some macro work.

I had a play in the garden last week with my kit lens and got some nice shots up close and personal with the bees on our lavender:

As a result of which I've ordered 58-49 and 58-52 lens coupling rings to partner either my nifty fifty or Vivitar 28mm f/2.8 with one of my existing zooms - see my sig.

I posted this in the discussion area with no feedback so far, but what sort of focusing distance can I expect with any of these combinations? Cheers!

good shot, like it!
pretty good exposure, think you will get very short focus distance.

Yep, that was one of my only concerns, that the focusing distance would be miniscule. OK for static[Ish] subjects, but pretty useless for anything as active as the bees are currently!

Still, I'll have a play with the various permutations I'll have at my disposal and hopefully something will be vaguely practical for active subjects.
