Does this mean the price will drop?
I always thought this was the latest version of the 70-200... maybe a mk II?

Actually, I have a BIG apology; I completely mis-read an email from our purchasing department. We have NO official notification that this is discontinued - we just can't get any at the moment.

I do apologize for any misunderstanding or concern that this has caused.

Nikon is rumored to discontinue their 70-200mm VR as well. Bigger and better things to replace a legendary lens is my guess. I don't know about the Canon FF users, but the 70-200mm supposedly showed some vingetting on a FF, maybe they got rid of that and placed a faster AF motor and better VR?
