Just wondering if folks have encountered any "fuzzy" behavior from their G9 when out and about in hot weather? I've used it before in hot conditions without trouble but had some problems this last trip.

We were recently in Spain shooting outdoors on a very hot day ( 94+ F ) with very intense sun. My G9 got extremely hot in hand, this despite my keeping it in my pocket or in a case when not shooting and seeking out shade -- the sort of things I always do. Started having problems with AF and some other wierd behavior. Turning the camera off and rebooting temporarily solve the problems, but it happens again later in the same hot conditions.

It came to my mind that the battery itself may have been reacting to the heat as the camera body felt very hot in hand. By comparison, my Sony HD video camera, got hot in the same sun and cools off quickly in hand by following the same practice of limiting direct sun exposure & finding shade etc.

Only had this happen one day as I worked as usual outdoors with the G9 ( using a different battery ). My biggest worry was frying the electronics.

This of course got me to thinking why so many camera bodies are black instead of a more neutral color to cut down direct radiant heat/light absorption ( my old Sony DSV-1 was a metallic grey and never felt particularly hot ).

Oh well, the G9 kept working and I'm home parsing through lots of images taken Costa del Sol way.

I've shot with mine many times in 100+ F and not had any problems like that.

I live in an area that has temperatures reach 115-120 degrees in the shade and I have not had any issues with my G9. It is a dry heat! I do not know how humid heat might affect it.

However, I have never left it lying around in direct sunlight cooking it, either.

I have noticed some issues in very cold weather, though. Sometimes the lens does not want to retract or come out in very cold weather. Strange things happen when you bring inside a cold camera into a warm room.

No issues in south Louisiana or on Mississippi beaches in the summer but the G9 does get a little warm in the hand. I notice the warmth more indoors.

The only time i noticed my G9 getting really warm was (heavy) continuous shooting. The cpu had to crunch a lot of pixel... ;)
Never had such an issue regarding to the weather / the temperatur. Same with my G10 now.

Regards,
Piet
