Developing Expired Film?

I recently bought a EOS-3 film body and expired film, and I wanted to know if I can take my expired film to any local spot [Costco, Target, etc.. etc..] and get it developed? I took a film class about a year ago, so I kind of know how to develop my own film, but I'd like to take it in for a bit, while I figure stuff out.

Fujicolor Press 100 (Superia)
Ilford HP5

You'll probably have to do send out on the Ilford HP5 though, since it's genuine B&W and not C41 process.

there's not really any special process or care to be taken with expired film beyond what's done with film that's in date, you're just running the risk of fogged film/color shifts, mostly. if it's not that far past the expiration date, there probably won't be any noticeable problems at all.

Thanks bric-a-brac, but who would you suggest I send the HP5 to? Both sets were owned by a professional, and he reassured me that all his film was freezer stored since new, and If I remember correclty the oldest set expired in 06'.

Ive developed film that was 5 years old and only had a few pictures that werent any good. And they luckily werent any good to begin with.

I know I'll get sh*t for it, but I just read that Walmart will send it out, I also have two Costco's near me so I'll have to give them a try aswell.

B&W freezer stored with expiry date in 2006? I think it'll be fine.

I've got a film that I still haven't got round to developing and it has been in my 'to do' section since 1982!

I'm not quite sure what will be on there now as I don't usually leave things that long before processing them.

Personally, I prefer expired film to regular. Most of my film photography is experimental and non traditional though.

I use walmart to send out my kodachrome. And In the past Ive used them for Slides and Black and white before I started doing my own.

Sometimes It comes back scratched or dirty, but for the most part they do a good job. The price is decent, but the Turn around time is not, it takes at least 10 days and most times more than 14 days.

If you have a good local shop I would choose them first, I have one near me that will do Slides overnight for less than Walmart's send out service.

For C41 I use Target. If you have your own scanner and do not want prints, It only Cost $0.99 for developing only on next day service.

Looks like you live in San Jose, there should be a few custom labs around that area that still do B/W, K&H is one place I have heard off. When I do shoot B/W film I always will use a custom lab, I still don't trust anybody except a custom lab for B/W film or I do it myself.
