I'm going to make a few purchases before my trip to the Bahamas and I wanted some member feedback so I make a good choice. FYI: I have a mint 30D w/ few clicks and an EF 50mm f/1.4. I believe the reason I have taken so few pictures is that I really hate that lens. Anyway...

Tokina AT-X 124 PRO DX I (Something wider for seascapes on the narrow beach, CPL might help too.)
Manfrotto 190XV + 486RC2 (Seems like a sturdy set-up and manageable weight. It's kinda short but I'll live.)
SanDisk 4GB III CF cards via Adorama + Rebate
2 Sterlingtek BP-511 (One in the camera, one mounted on protective case, one velcroed onto charger.)
Canon 60-T3

I'd really like to pick up a 430EX + Kata backpack because my Tamrac Adventure backpack is SMALL, so maybe I can come away with one of those if someone can save me some money haha. Thanks!

That tripod setup should serve you well. I have the 055 (taller version of the 190) with the same ballhead. The ballhead is easy to use and should have no problems supporting a 30D-lens combination. As for the tripod, the 190 is a good choice as its compact enough to travel with, more so than the 055, but still of good quality.

How many CF cards are you bringing? Depending on how long are you going for, and whether or not you will have access to a computer, 4GB may not be enough. I went to the caribbean for a week this past winter and filled my 8GB card within about 5-6 days. Thankfully, I had brought a 2GB backup card, which I proceeded to fill over the rest of the trip. That said, I had no access to a computer and I was shooting RAW.

Yeah, where there's sun, sand and water a CPL is a necessity. Get a good multicoat from B+W, Hoya or Heliopan.

That is why I'm going to order a 3 pack, making 4 for a total of 16GB. I'll have a look at the B+W Cpl, will I need a thin one?

The 50 1.4 is a fantastic lens - but you might want to pick up a 17-40 - another excellent lens that you might be more prone to use -- I would suggest picking up a few 16gig transcend cards from newegg - they are cheap and might fit the bill for you.
The 17-40 will make the Bahamas look killer - and with a filter you will have some fantastic landscape photos to cherish forever - shoot in RAW and process later - will keep all the details of the photo so when you get better at processing you can play with.

I know the image editing softwares like the back of my hand haha. Would I need a slim polarizer on the Tokina?
