Does any market a tether to attach the camera to the vest?

It's easy and cheap. Pay $12.00 for a cheapo Tamrac P&S pouch. The model with the stronger black spring clips (these work I've tested it by dropping my gripped XXD rigs with the 100-400 from in my hands to the floor (for the test ...the floor was my mattress with me standing on it).

1- Remove the strap from the pouch
2- Cut the end with the clip attached.
3- Measure out how long you want the safty strap to be and double up the rest through the adjustment clip passing through the loop ends of the black spring clips. Feed the last of the tail back...reversed direction through the sliding clip to "lock" it so it won't pull loose. (Takes some futzing but you will eventually get the multiple layers of nylon strapping to be equal in length)
4- Hot melt the end of the nylon strap with a match (in a pinch) or use a fireplace butane "match"

You now have a multiple thickness, strong safty strap with two strong but smallish black spring clips. The strapping is narrow and doesn't get in your way.
I keep strong split rings on my bodies in 3-4 positions ...top right and left,
the hand strap location on the battery grips and I use the Bogen QR plate with the D ring on it.
That gives you multiple positions to clip the safty strap to.

Unlike the photo with the red markers...I clip it to the D ring on the CC rig on the Left side (as worn) and the top left of the camera body so that when I swing to portrait mode...nothing is dangling in my eye...so no finger/thumb flicking. Just fast motion from landscape to portraint and vice-versa.

Lotsa stuff, running outta room and a wife...I keep looking at her and wondering???

Hah. Nice mannequin photo. What would be hilarious is if someone took a product photo using a Real Doll.

In the past two plus hours I have read all 42 pages and the CC does sound like something I am interested in. My question is for those of you who use a tripod. Did you but the $74 Quick Release or is there a less expensive way to use a tripod without removing the insert?

Thanks,

Jerry

I was under the impression any plate could thread into the bottom of the CC. I am looking to buy a CC too =)

DDCSD - how is the cotton carrier going and would you still recommend it? I am 6 ft 5in tall and wear large clothing and wonder if it would fit me. How wide can the vest extend? Thanks Bruce

Still loving it, and even more since I got the angled inserts! You've got about 6 inches on me, but I'm sure you'll find the system to be a great fit.

I haven't worn mine over any larger clothing, but earlier in the thread someone talked about wearing it comfortably over a parka. There is a lot of adjustment in the straps. I've got a lot of strap left over.

I didn't know they did their own quick release. I use Manfrotto's RC2 QR system and I bought myself a couple of 323 QR platforms and plates, which are $30 each from B&H - http://www.bhphotovideo.com …323_RC2_System_Quick.html (external link). As it happens, I had them long before getting the CCS, but now I use them with the CCS and they work perfectly well.

tdodd,

Thanks. I think I like the looks of that one and it will work with my current set up.

Thanks for sharing

I just bought a stainless steel Joint Connector Bolt to do the same. It only cost a 1.20 instead of the 19.00 on the site.

why buy more stuff to make a teather... if your not useing your neckstrap on the camera, use it as a teather going to the little D-loops on the shoulder straps of the CC vest, and the original Canon neck strap should be plenty long enough for fairly free movement. Although, yes, you would have to loop and un-loop each time you want to fully detatch, but its less items to buy, and best of all..... FREE. and looping a neckstrap isn't that difficult.....

just my 2 cents.

I don't use the CC EVERYTIME I use the camera. Many times I use a strap. The tails are located on the camera and them make an ideal and easy to disconnect lanyard by using tails that mate with the strap pieces.

When I use the cotton carrier, I don't use the strap - the use is mutually exclusive. i don't want a long strap hanging down while I carry my gear around - it's annoying.

After spending an evening reading all 42 pages of this thread, I'll probably get a CC. I do have a question for all you out there that have them--I can see where you can easily wear a backpack when you have the CC on, but what about a shoulder bag? Does the strap from the shoulder bag go across your chest exactly where the camera is sitting?

pretty much yes... i used a shoulder bag once, but was wearing the shoulder bag the whole time, so what i did was put the shoulder bad on 1st, then the CC vest over the top of the shoulder bag's strap so it wouldn't interfere with the camera inserting into the CC vest... but now i also have a Think Tank Steroid belt, so i don't use the shoulder bag anymore.

kinda look like the old school "batman" with the gadjet belt, but it gets the job done

Has anyone from the UK ordered the new angled inserts? I ordered mine on 15th Feb. They were despatched by Canada Post on 16th Feb and, 20 days later, I am still awaiting delivery. I've just dropped a note to Cotton Carrier themselves and I'm awaiting a response. I just wondered what other people's experiences were.

I know it can take that long for eBay purchase to turn up from Hong Kong (although I've never understood why), but I thought the delivery might be a bit quicker from Cotton Carrier, especially since I have the despatch note, so now they're somewhere in the mail system rather than sitting in a warehouse still waiting to be picked and packed. Where on earth can these things be sitting for almost three weeks without making any progress? It's not like they're going to be an appealing target for thieves. Does Canada Post use a row boat for transatlantic deliveries?

It can take randomly ridiculous times to get things through the postal systems, i've sent things all over, i've sent to Oz in 5 days then 2 months later had calls from customers still waiting a month later. Even in UK i've known items sent by RM 1st class recorded delivery take 2 weeks.
