New Epson Printers

Epson has just announced four new printers.

Apparently the R1800 is not the upgrade to the 2200. The 2800 is.

I promised myself I wouldn't get a new printer until my good old 1280 died. Maybe I can train the dog to jump up and knock it off the table.

You mean the 2400, not the 2800. I've seen rumours about the 2400 since about last week - now it looks like it's real!

I wonder how that 2400 is going to compare to the R1800.

I have been eyeing the Epson 7600 and 9600 for some time now, because if I go bigger then the 13x19 of my Canon i9900, I always felt Epson would be a better choice. Just have been procrastinating for 2 reasons. Money and could not make up my mind if I could live with the 24" 7600 or if I needed the 44" of the 9600 to get what I needed.
Since they have announced the new printers and the two I want to pick from 7800 and 9800 are not available until Sept. I have some time still to make up my mind. The largest print to date I have had made was a 16x20 so from that perspective the 24" would be all I need, but I like the thought of being able to do Life size prints and for that I would need the 44" model. If I ignore the cost of printer, the cost of the print would be cheaper then sending off to have printed (that I have found so far), but more importantly I would have more control over the final print and I like that.

The other 'little' problem is where to put the printer.

Time to start saving money for new toy again I think maybe.

uh, this is a 2 year old thread. these "new" printers are now the ones talking about being replaces
