Recently a lot of my personal friends have been picking up old Minolta, Holga, and Vivitar 120mm and 35mm cameras for cheap or free and have really been exploring how it all works. They just ordered chemicals and tools to convert their house's laundry room into a darkroom. So, naturally, I have been using my Rebel GII a lot more often than usualy and with some surprising results.

Now to my questions:

I've researched into some better bodies to upgrade to, and since they are so cheap, I really think I might pull the trigger on either a Canon EOS-3 or EOS-1. Ebay seems to have them with a grip for around $250 or so. Would this be a cool upgrade to my GII? (That I would sell off or give to my brother.)

To help keep costs even lower and give me the ability to post process, I'm looking for a 35mm negative scanner that is compatible with Apple computers. Any suggestions?

I know this is the digital forum, but since a lot of you guys still use film, it would be awesome to hear some feed back. Thanks in advance!

I recently got an EOS-3, and I love it.

Are you in Massachusetts? If so, there is a crazy deal on an EOS-1v right now.

Yep...if you want to use film, there are some awesome deals out there on bodies. You can't go wrong with an EOS-3 or 1 series.

Eos-3's are so cheap its cruel. A great camera, now at fire-sale prices.
If you buy one with a grip, make sure it's the PB-E2, not the older PB-E1.
The PB-E1 will fit and function fine, but the -E2 was made for the EOS-3 and
EOS-1V, and has full vertical controls.

Thanks guys.
I'm really excited. In fact, I haven't been this pumped since I got my 20D, haha.
I had no idea that these cameras could be had for so cheap!

Now I just have to sell some of my guitar equipment and I'll be all over it! hah...

I want an EOS 1Vhs, pretty bad... :p

Think Geek.com has this film scanner (external link) for $100, which might be your only/best option for a scanner compatible with apple computers that doesn't break the bank. it actually doesn't have any software at all, it just scans images to internal memory or an SD card. only does JPEGs at about 5mp though.

There are lots of good deals on an EOS-1's and 3's on ebay. If you are into medium-format, you can pickup a Hasselblad 500cm for around $500, and sometimes with an 80mm lens!

AutumnJazz, I'm not (however, I wish I was), I'm in southern California. Would you be able to provide me with some more info if they can ship? That would be awesome!

They never replied to my email (asking them if they'd ship, or meet half way) and posted it again after, so I suppose not. :( It is on the Western Mass. craigslist, as EOS 1-v.

Where i can get Hasselblad 500cm "NEW only" with around $500?

I am torn between Hasselblad 500series or Mamiya RZ [as i really want to get 6x7 instead of 6x6 but the Hasselblad is more sexy body, hehe].

The RZ67 has better lenses. Adorama's used department has a ProII w/ 100mm ƒ/2.8, back, and AE finder for next to nothing.
