so it fires when it 'sees' another flash? is that what the optical trigger means?

You can use one transmitter to control either one set of external flashes or the camera shutter but not both. If you want to shoot self portraits with a flash you need two transmitters set to different channels (one for shutter, one for flashes).

Finally they arrive. Works very well! :D

However, I still cannot figure out how to trigger the shutter. So, I have a receiver for each Speedlite. And then a transmitter on the camera. Then what can I do with the second transmitter (set to a different channel) in order to release the shutter? Just handhold it and press the button? What makes the camera "gets" the signal from the second transmitter?

You need a separate transmitter and receiver for your flash and a separate transmitter and receiver for your camera.. Be sure you choose different transmission channels for your flash and camera..

Given that I have three Speedlites, does it mean that I need 4 receivers and 2 transmitters? Oops, then I need one more receiver.

Page 8 in the manual covers this.

I didn't know exactly how this works before I made the purchase. I asked about transmitter and knew that I need two. But I forgot to ask about receiver. So, now I'm one receiver short.

Question: I'm going to be using these transmitters (when they arrive) with my Lumopro LP120 flashes. Can they trigger with the Lumopro flashes via the hot-shoe, or only with a cable?

Just did my first photo shoot ever today (thankfully it was friends) and my RF-602s decided they didn't want to work today. I have had them only about a week and they worked fine yesterday. When I got set up today with a light stand/flash/umbrella, the flash would not fire and I still have not been able to get the 602s functioning again. Someone in another thread said to take the batteries out and put them back in. That didn't work, and neither did changing channels. The red lights on the receivers flash and the green light lights up on the transmitter, but there is apparently no communication between them. Anyone had this problem or are my 602s just busted?

Could someone answer my question above? I need to know whether I should buy some extra sync cables. Thanks!

You'll be able to trigger your flash(es) via the hotshoe..

All cables are supplied...

Thanks! From what I can tell, each 'set' only includes ONE sync cable, and you'll have to buy additional sync cables from YongNuo's ebay store.
