The lens cap for my G3 is so loose that it easily drops off: the felt liner is obviously the problem. Has any other G3 user had this experience?

The cover on my g3 is the same . It's the one of the only problems I've had with mine . I use a rubber band to hold it on.

Same thing happens to me. It's doesn't really bother me much though.

Well I have the G5 and have the same problem! It's funny though because I just turn the camera on and when the lens extends it pushed the cap right off and I catch it and throw it into my pocket. I untied it from the camera because it bugs the holy heck out of me dangling there!

My G3 also drops off. I particularly like the fact that it hangs on in there. :) If it weren't for the holding cord, I doubt I would have a lens cap now.

same here when I had the g3. I glued successive strips of paper on the inside rim of the cap until it was built up enough to stay on.

Mine does the same thing. Must be a problem with the design. Doesnt bother me though because I don't use it. I use a 58mm lens adaptor and a 58mm lens cap.

Thanks everyone for the replies:it is extraordinary that a producer of excellent cameras like Canon provide a 'dodgy' lens cap. I too can't stand the cap danging from the camera ans have removed the cord: I'll look for a 3rd party cap that is a tight fit.

My solution was to buy some moleskin and cut a strip to fit inside the cap. It's cheap, comes with a sticky back, and is similar to the original felt. End of problem.

All I want is a 10-2000 f/0.5L with no distortion that weighs 100 grams, fits in my pocket, and costs $300. Is that too much to ask?
